I've taught for 5 years in a general ed. classroom. I'm going to apply for a reading teacher position. I need some advice on my resume. Should I just tailor it so only literacy things are listed? Would a page resume be okay? Should I include more teaching things even though it wouldn't apply to the new position?

I have a two page resume and just got offered a reading teacher position. I couldn't possibly fit everything I wanted to on one page. I also would NEVER print front to back. I was told by one of my coaches in college to never do that. If you do make it two pages, I recommend one-sided copies on resume paper.

Good luck!

I've been told to keep it to one page, although I see lots of people have front and back. I think the things that apply to the Reading position should be the focus of your resume. I would try to summarize the other teaching experience though, since it all applies in that you are still managing children, groups, planning curriculum, etc. One of the things my boss looked for was could I do the planning it takes to see 7 reading groups a day, each at a different level. Did I have the skills to utilize an adopted curriculum unfamiliar to me AND have the experience to supplement it with the necessary explicit instruction to provide a balanced program? Did I have experience using various assessment tools? These can be alluded to in a short resume.
