Iím so bored and go to my ďdark placeĒ during summer vacation.

Linda/OH 06-19-2019 01:52 AM

I say catching up on things I can't get to during the school year. Home projects, reading, cooking, etc.

redhead38 06-18-2019 11:23 AM

I'm bored out of my mind....but don't think I am going back into teaching either.

Violet4 06-18-2019 10:03 AM

I said "nothing"

I backtracked and said well not literally nothing but not working or anything.

heart4kids 06-18-2019 09:41 AM

From a teacher friend. He would answer, "I do all the projects during the summer that other people can afford to have hired out to have done."

NJ Teacher 06-18-2019 08:05 AM

That sounds similar to what I was asked when I retired next year. I wanted to say absolutely nothing, but I felt like I needed to qualify it a bit more.

I would say that you had a busy and productive year, and you are going to take some time to relax and recharge. When I answer in my situation, I add reading, going to the pool and beach, taking day trips and going to the gym. And of course, once it gets closer to the end of summer break, planning for the new school year. I also did professional development and curriculum work on some of my summers.

You have earned that summer break, so you can answer that question any way that feels right to you. Some people are just curious, and some are jealous.

That's always the first response I give people when they ask. I tell them I take some time to decompress, then I do projects around the house and enjoy relaxing lunches with friends, and I do a little school work when I feel like it.

If they keep talking about it, I'll say that it's nice to pee when I feel like it and to eat lunch without opening 26 milk cartons and fruit packs while still eating my own lunch in less than 20 min.

You don't need to give anyone an explanation about what you do in the summer.

I would say, "I chill out".

MAsped 06-17-2019 06:15 PM

"A little of this, a little of that."

jov 06-17-2019 05:21 PM

I always said "taking required PD classes for recertification" and "writing lesson plans for September" even if I really wasn't.

Tori58 06-17-2019 04:19 PM

A vague answer is fine. I always answer something like "nothing much" or "not sure yet." The truth is, most people don't really care anyway; they're just making conversation.

Anything I want, whenever I want.

All the home projects I have put off during the school year!

Crazy3 06-17-2019 02:12 PM

how to be retired. Looking forward to all those hobbies I had to leave behind.

Whatever I want to!

whiteturtle 06-17-2019 02:01 PM

Read
Catch up on things around the house.
Organize.

There is nothing wrong with saying you're just hanging around the house relaxing and catching up on things you don't get to during the school year.

Enjoy your summer exactly as you want it!

Violet4 06-17-2019 01:47 PM

Many of us have had that slow summer this one is mine and I am embracing it completely. But give me some suggestions for what I can respond with other than "nothing much" although maybe that is good enough
