I just joined and saw your post. I write children's plays and musicals for your age group and have been putting them on for the last 30 years so they are tried and true. If you still need something I can direct you to my website so you can look them over. If you have found something already-break a leg!

Can you have them develop their own play using creative drama? The children take on the roles in the story and develop their own dialog. There are tons of books on creative dramatics techniques.

You might also look for some Wright Group books. Many of them have play scripts.

You can also adopt/rewrite a story with lots of dialog into a script, use one or several narrators to describe what can't be included in the dialog. Try stories like Bremen Town Musicians, Chicken Little, or anything with lots of characters.

I am looking for plays that a group of children (ages 5 - 10) can preform with 1 month of practice. So mini-plays or one acts are probably best. If anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated. Especially if the play has a clear theme: respect, cooperation, honesty, etc.
