Mrs. O
Great question! I do not typically measure just add together and mix until the consistency is not running and on the thick side. You will know when it is ready. It is so easy to use - in fact I gave the students each a bowl and spoon and they mixed his/her own.
There is also a little shrinkage as the picture dries - so I always advised the kids not to try and make small lines, etc..
Have fun!

I do a snowman glyph. I'm sure you can google it and find something. Generally it's a certain color boot for a favorite snow activity, colored mittens for a hot drink, earmuffs or a hat for boy/girl, coal mouth, smile, or frown for school can make a lot up. If you need more, I'll try to post my copy. I don't have it at home with me.

We wrote out spelling words on white paper and had a snowball fight. After a minute of tossing each child pick up a snowball, opened it, did say spell say and got points for each letter of the word they had for their team. You could do the same with math facts.

KathyB, how much glue do you add to the shaving cream?

Have a happy "snow day".

If you mix glue (white) with shaving cream it makes this really neat consistency that will dry on construction paper - perhaps the students could make geometric snowmen - no circles allowed?
Enjoy your snow day!

I would have never thought to have a snow day. I can't wait until after my Christmas break. I'm going to have a snow day in class and design my whole days learning around snow. I miss having real snow days!!!

Hey, I'm doing snow day on thursday too!! At one center, the kids are going to have shaving cream on their desks and practice addition and subtraction facts with a parent. Bonus: It cleans the desks!

I'm having a snow day on Thursday. Does anyone have any ideas for a snow math activity?
