but I'm still so sad. My daughter, son-in-law, and grandson will be flying back across the ocean in 12 hours.

My daughter is my absolute best friend, and the last 3 weeks have been Heaven having them with us.

They won't be back in the States for another 18 months. Hopefully, we will see them over there next summer. Next summer...sounds so long from now....

Your tears attest to a wonderful family visit! Luckily, for you, there's FaceTime and Skype available for us grandparents to electronically visit faraway family.
Now, it's time for you to document your visit via shared photos. Planning and anticipating your next visit will be a joy.

We are talking about flying in Aug, 2016 to see them. GS will be getting ready for kindergarten. We had his 5th birthday party while they were here. I can hardly stand it that he will be almost 6 before we get to be together again. We talk frequently and that does help, but I miss being able to play with him and listen to all of his funny conversations.

Thanks for listening to me. I'm still teary eyed over their departure.

I am so sorry the time has come for them to leave! I am so glad you had this time together! Maybe you can plan a trip to see them again soon? (((HUGS)))

They just left and our 5 year old grandson cried buckets of tears. I know we will all be ok, but it is so hard. They are 3 people that are so easy to be with. No drama, ever!

Now, my son who is close by is going thru a divorce w/2 kids and that really breaks my heart. Poor guy, now he lives w/drama.

The old saying "you are only as happy as your least happy child" really rings true.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I know just how you feel....my daughter and SIL and DGS lived in France for the first two years of my grandson's life and I missed them terribly. Make sure you Skype and write lots of letters. You'll be surprised how fast the time goes and hopefully, you'll be there next summer and then in no time, they'll be coming back stateside. I'm just glad to have my daughter in the same time zone now....that takes some getting used to. Baby was always sleeping by the time I'd get home from school so we Skyped mostly on weekends. Don't be too sad....you'll get into a routine of corresponding with her and think of what a cool adventure they're having. You're very blessed to have such a wonderful family!

We are amazed how much the children have changed. It had been 18 months since we had seen the older two. They are 5 and 6. Right now I'm watching the two year old. The girls went to play in a friends garden. DH and DD drove off to do some shopping. It is incredibly hard to have grandchildren so far away.

It's difficult being far away from the people you love. Glad you had a nice long visit though. Hope you get to make that trip in the summer!
