Has anyone ever made their door to look like a tent? If so I would love to see a picture of it if you have one. I don't want mine to look like a teepee. Any ideas of how to do that? Thanks!

c.fondren 07-20-2008 05:23 PM

What was used as the marshmallows?

jacole 07-09-2008 01:11 PM

I am planning on using a tent this year for my fourth grade class. I was a little worried about 4th graders being in the tent as well. I decided since the tent is really a "one-man" tent, I am only allowing the helper for that day to read in the tent. We will see how it goes!

critterchic 07-05-2008 06:08 PM

I am also doing a camping theme this year...thanks for all the inspiration...and somewhere I seen a door that was decorated using tp rolls painted brown to make a cabin affect. Does anyone know where I can find that pict. again?

Here is a picture of my classroom door.

Thanks for sharing. All the posts for sharing classroom pics has inspired me to take pictures this year. I wasn't good about taking them last year!

We have strict rules about the types of furniture we're allowed to have. The fire marshall seems to ban everything! How does your school deal with this? I love the reading hut but I can't see our fire marshall permitting it.

Weezer 06-26-2008 05:06 AM

I do not have a web page. I want to build one this summer. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I am flattered!

dt3rdgrade 06-25-2008 06:19 PM

Do you have a classroom web page? Your posts always inspire me to be a better teacher. You are awesome!

Weezer 06-25-2008 05:56 PM

I love the door!!!! It is adorable! What did you use to keep the paper up on the walls? Sometimes I have difficulty getting it to stay!

Weezer 06-25-2008 05:53 PM

She listed her rules on the poster in the corner. They were the typical respect/responsibility type things.
Then she listed each child's name and placed a large tack by their name. If they broke the camp rules they had to move their tack. the first move was a warning and each additional move had a consequence; lost moose money ( she did a classroom econonmy); lost recess;note home; visit principal. Her students were allowed to shop on Mondays with their moose money.

Thank you all for sharing! Your hallways and classrooms encourage students to learn. You have inspired me!

Teacher82 06-25-2008 02:14 PM

I love all the pictures! What did she put on the behavior board - titles, topics, etc...? I would like to do that instead of "pulling cards" like I normally do. Thanks!

teacherchar 06-25-2008 12:58 PM

There's nothing I like more than to see other teacher's classrooms and creativity! Thanks for posting such great pictures! I love the camping themed room - so creative! And I would love to see more of the classroom behind that cute hallway display! Please keep posting! there anyone out there with photos of a travel/road trip theme??? I'd love to see that .... or a cooking theme! Thanks!

kdeeaot93 06-25-2008 12:34 PM

Thanks Weezer for explaining the way to make the hut. I can't wait to do this for my jungle classroom! Too cute.

wiggytails 06-25-2008 11:31 AM

Do you have pictures of the inside of your classroom?

teachntx 06-25-2008 10:24 AM

Such cute ideas!! Thanks for sharing everyone!!

txblonde 06-25-2008 10:05 AM

This is my actual classroom door!

txblonde 06-25-2008 10:04 AM

This is actually part of my hallway... but you'll see what I mean when you look at it. Haha!

txblonde 06-25-2008 10:02 AM

This was my door and hallway - it got lots of compliments!!

Weezer 06-25-2008 09:53 AM

Actually I made the hut a few years ago and I purchased a new one for my room. She inherited the old one. Very easy to make....4 PVC pipes for legs and using PVC elbows and T-joints I atttached three pipes going across the top to form the roof. I use a grass table skirt to and attached it to the top using double sticky tape. At the end of the year, the legs are pulled off and they just pop back in. Go to a lumber yard like HomeDepot or Lowes and they can help you. Very inexpensive to make. I spray painted the pipe brown.

kdeeaot93 06-25-2008 09:46 AM

I'll keep posting so I can get to attach pictures. I LOVED the bamboo hut that you posted. I had a small child tent in my room. (second grade) But this year I'm doing a jungle theme. I would love how she made that! Too cute!

Weezer 06-25-2008 09:14 AM

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments!!!! I have yet another daughter that teaches kindergarten and her room is adorable! It was done in the farm and has a huge barn in it!!!! Idon'tthinkI have pics of it...but I'll browse and see!

Weezer 06-25-2008 09:09 AM

She did her job board using cut outs of jars and used little bugs on them. The cutouts were from a notepad of paper that looked like jars. I don't remember all of her jobs, but I do remember this one!
Conservation Officer- take care of pet turtles

She also found passes to the restroom with outhouses on them!!! TOO CUTE! She had a camper of the week board. I don't have any pics of this or the job jars. OOPS! If you look at the reading area pic...the bulletin board to the right is the job jars board.

She had a little stuffed skunk that was placed on someone's desk as a warning.....for being a little stinker! They knew they were about to get in trouble if the skunk was on their desk.

Weezer 06-25-2008 09:00 AM

She originally wanted to use a tent. However, she wasn't too comfortable with 5th graders in a tent !!!

Weezer 06-25-2008 08:58 AM

She had her students bring in current events and classify them as community, local, state, national, or world news.

Weezer 06-25-2008 08:56 AM

Thisis looking toward the front of the room.

Weezer 06-25-2008 08:55 AM

This one view of her room.

Weezer 06-25-2008 08:50 AM

This is hercamp behavior board. She taught 5th grade and had 2 classes because they switch. That is why she has so many names on her board.

KAS112 06-25-2008 08:44 AM

I'm pretty sure you have to be a junior member to post a picuture (I think somewhere around 40 posts). If you have a website you should be able to link to your site with pictures, if not - keep posting! The BusyBoard and Teachers Lounge always have lots going on that you could respond to. By the way welcome - there's a ton of great info on this site!

AngieB. 06-25-2008 08:03 AM

You and your daughter are awesome decorators! I'd love for you guys to be on my hall!!

kdeeaot93 06-25-2008 05:53 AM

How do I attach an image? I would love to show my camping theme door. Sorry. New to proteacher.

teachntx 06-25-2008 05:52 AM

Like Mother, Like Daughter! Your daughter and you both have precious rooms! I would love to see more pics too!

Sam5 06-25-2008 04:20 AM

Weezer, I loved your daughter's camping themed pictures. Do you have anymore you could share?

Annie39 06-25-2008 04:18 AM

I am also doing my room with a camping theme. Your daughter's pics of her door are too cute. Do you have pics of how she decorated her room and bulletin boards? I would love see them. Thanks for sharing.

Sam5 06-25-2008 04:10 AM

Someone on this board game me a suggestion I thought I would use- "Gearing Up For Fifth Grade!" and use all kinds of pictures of camping supplies and equipment to write the students' names on.

Teacher82 06-25-2008 03:43 AM

Thanks for the great ideas! I love the S'more door! So cute! Thanks!

Weezer 06-25-2008 03:10 AM

She has two doors. This was the other one!

Weezer 06-25-2008 03:08 AM

My daughter did camping theme last year. Here is a pic of her door.

K-Jeanne 06-24-2008 07:29 PM

I am planning a camping theme and outside my room I plan to have; "Look who's camping out in first grade!" I thought I would take a picture of my new students sitting in my tent. I would then place the pictures around the words.

Teacher82 06-24-2008 06:28 PM

I've been looking through all the great posts on Camping theme, but nothing has caught my eye for the hallway and door. I would like something very inviting, but not too hard to do (moving schools, I won't have a lot of time for decorating). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
