Jojo Moyes (Me before you) new book is amazing! Itís called The Giver of the Stars.

I also read a historical fiction novel called All the Flowers in Paris by Sarah Jio. Itís set in 2 different times in France. One story in present day and one in 1943.

If she's a fan of historical fiction, check out the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. Maisie is a psychologist/investigator living in England during WW I and into the 1930s.

I think you’re thinking of “Big Little Lies”. Sara Shephard wrote “Pretty Little Liars”. I do agree with Liane Moriarity. My favorite of hers is “Husband’s Secret”

A Bend in the Stars by Rachel Barenbaum is historical fiction about the Jews living in Russia around the time WW I is breaking out. Great read!

The Summer of '69 by Elin Hildebrand. I love anything by her.

Not sure is she likes legal thrillers, but The Reckoning by John Grisham was great. He has a new one out now called The Guardians. I also liked The Rooster Bar.

Nancy Thayer and Jane Green also write books I think she might enjoy. They are a little lighter and more "beachy".

Here are some recent reads that I have really enjoyed:
Virgil Wander by Leif Enger, The Tender Land by William Kent Krueger, Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler, A Sudden Light by Garth Stein.
I agree with your daughter about Kristin Hannah and Before We Were Yours. I loved Hannah's The Nightingale.

MissJewer 10-21-2019 05:58 AM

Do you know if she liked The Nightingale? I can suggest a bunch of WWII related books that are similar (both fiction and non-fiction). For reference, I am 38 and love these books lol. Let me know and I can list a bunch!

Also does she like the Handmaid's Tale? The sequel came out after 34 years and ties in with the show (The Testaments).

My thirty- three year old daughter requested real, versus kindle, books for Christmas this year. We are celebrating Christmas at Thanksgiving this year so I need to get shopping. She likes Kristin Hannah and loved the book Before We Were Yours. I am looking for similar type books . Any suggestions?
