Thanks! Each grade level planned two literacy activities that were appropriate for their grade. We wanted an interactive night where families could play literacy games and move around the school. Some of the activities planned are snow ball sight words (similar to Bang or Snap), prefix checkers, story element foldables, bookmark making, etc. We are also having a parent information area to discuss the importance of reading with your child.

We have used some readers theater scripts with props or puppets. Families put them on for themselves or each other.

I am planning a Family Literacy Night at my school. Does anyone have any ideas for activities or games that children and parents do together to promote reading at home. Thanks.
