I'm starting an individual student incentive system and am looking for small daily reward ideas. My student enjoys physical activity, gadgets, building things, Star Wars, etc. I've begun by giving my student mechanical pencils (which she loves) for now but would like to include other daily rewards. Does anyone know of small gadgety things that I could reward my student with?

Hiya! I agree with some of the other suggestions. Daily gifts tend to become expensive. Gadgets too. Maybe build towards the gadgets with stickers. I use classpoints and at the end of the month, I total them and give gifts. The gifts start small and gradually build up.

asnmdirteha,

I agree! In years past, I did a class reward system for being a good citizen but realized my students were more concerned with the physical prizes than with helping one another out. So I switched the rewards to activities the student would get to do with 2 friends after they earn all four letters of TEAM for being a good "teammate" such as extra recess, eat lunch outside, watch a movie (very popular, going to switch to watch an episode since movies are very long thus not sustainable in the long run), and other things that involved being with their classmates.

I would stick with like stickers or something and if they obtain a certain amount of stickers they can get a gift or privilege. I would stay away from gadgets cause I got a bunch of Legos for the kids to get them to read more but in the end I realized they were only reading to obtain a big reward instead of just reading to obtain knowledge.

Thanks for your advice

For the first month, I'm going to stick with mechanical pencils and then move towards activity-based rewards. As far as gadgets, I was thinking along the lines of fidget cubes, etc.

Individual systems can be tricky. I'd recommend not going with gadgets that can get pricey. Unless that's a way to involve parents at home. Let them get those for a reward after doing well at school. Instead ask the student what she wants to earn. Free time? Lego building time? Computer time? Lunch with teacher? Good luck
