I am in my first year of special education resource. I have been doing ok with the kids but just got thrown a loop. I have one fourth grader that just got added to my 5th grade group. She will be in writing for 30 minutes 5 days a week for and reading 2 days a week for 30 mintues while I have the other students 5 days a week for an hour. The other three days she is with a reading specialist where she has been all year long before she qualified for special education.
STAAR is next week. The fourth grader will be taking the writing STAAR. The fifth graders will be taking their math and reading STAAR. The content the students are supposed to be learning after that is different. The fourth grader still has until May before her reading and math STAAR test. The fifth graders will need a break. They are mostly ID and way below reading level. Looking at what I am supposed to teach, I don't see a good topic that will work well with my one student coming only two days a week. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
