Maybe it's because he's older (middle school) but I don't listen in on any of my grandson's virtual class meets. He wears headphones and stays on mute unless he has something to say. I've not had a single interaction with one of his teachers during a virtual meet. Who are these parents who have time to harrass teachers while they're trying to teach virtually???

I'm pretty sure the weirdest thing anybody has heard from my house is me chastising my cat for puking on my rug. No profanity, although that isn't always the case.

I'm really glad that, as a specialist, I'm not required to have live virtual classes. It feels very invasive to me to have to have them going on in my house all day but it would be worse to be on the other end. I am not at all surprised that people can't mind their language when their kids are in a virtual class meet. Ever been to a Little League game? I am surprised that anyone would chew someone out for the color of their walls, though.

Instead of using the living room, I set up my teaching station in a spare room of my house where the dogs won't bother me as I teach from home. The wall is red. A parent put his face very close to the camera and said I shouldn't push my political agenda on my students. "Vote for who you want but you don't need to show it off." My response was that the wall is the school's main color and that I'm certainly not voting for an awful human being.

Student: Dad I need a sheet of paper!

Dad: Get your own F...ing sheet of paper!

Teacher (Walks to phone by door, steps out into hall, calls office, dad apologizes by end of day).

Another class.

Student (in class to remote student): Is that Peekachew on your bed?

Remote student (to class of in person students): Yeah! Wanna see him? (Turns around picks up peekachew and holds him up to the camera). Whole class starts asking questions about the stuffed animals the student has lined up on his bed.

Some sixth graders in a district where I sub have figured out how to change the background on zoom to their picture so it appears that they are there when the are not.

"Hey! What are you doing!?", said a voice off screen. "My Ana does not understand."

Yea, Ana does not understand because Ana wraps herself in a blanket like a burrito and lies in bed. Plus, I just started my lesson. NO ONE understands yet!

Well, not from on line learning, but some of you may remember “Hurricane S”, a student I had several years ago. She was a nightmare and spoiled stink in’ rotten. Her father didn’t like the fact I was holding her accountable. He was ranting at me and said these words: “ Your ONLY job is to make my daughter happy.”

Damn, all those years of schooling for my credential....if I had only known I could have saved a bundle.

Luckily, I haven't had any rants over our online learning, but I will have a parent, in the middle of my instruction say, "We didn't understand .... " about an assignment, and I'm not even talking about that. My friends have had some doozies.

What has been the worst rantings you've witnessed?
