You may have already made a decision, but just in case... I really don't know how much time is appropriate. Can you talk to administration for advice? You are leaving the district anyway, and most administrators must understand your position. Personally, I don't know how not giving a huge notice can affect you, since Paras are not under the same contractual agreement as the teaching staff.

Congratulations on the job!!!

I am currently working as a Parapro in an ABA class. I have been offered a teaching position in a different city, which I plan to accept. The salary is going to make a vast improvement in my life, and I very much need it.

I'm trying to get a handle on how much notice I should give for my current position. They do have subs on staff, so I'm figuring that it wouldn't be that hard to get someone in for me.

I am just waiting for approval at the BOE meeting later this week, and to receive the official letter showing background check clearance. That is on its way to me. How much notice do I really need to give under the circumstances? I should add that the district I am in does not value its support staff, at least not financially. The classroom itself has been a positive experience for me, but I am eager to begin my teaching job. Any input would be much appreciated.
