I have been asked to consider becoming the ESL coordinator at the middle school where I teach. I haven't officially accepted yet. I was wondering if anyone:

. Has any tips on how to be an effective ESL coordinator
. Wants to share anything(tips or important nuts and bolts details) that might help a first-time ESL coordinator
. Has any book or study material suggestions to get prepped for the job.

Any help would be appreciated thank you!

I was the ESL coordinator for our district and believe me although it was a ton of work I enjoyed it. I had to write the ESL policy manual thus establishing the guidlines based on the state standards. Work with all the teachers who were ESL certified, coordinate training, set in all the ESL meetings as well as write the ESL plans. Coordinate testing, work with the local regional agency. If that wasn't enough I had to teach classes to students.
Good luck.
