Let's talk themes
 

What theme or color scheme will you be using this year? My brain is struggling to be creative and I would like to get a few ideas.

Anything helps!

I was thinking of doing whales OR elephants because blue and gray sound so calming, but I'm definitely not locked in on either.LOL

I'm doing a Toy Story theme. I'm about 95% finished with everything. I'm excited about it!

I'm doing a sweets theme (cupcakes, candy, etc...). I officially go back next week, so I've been working in my room. Here's my reading corner. Sorry - I'm not sure why it posted sideways. <!--icecream_cone-->

Thanks. I think that's the reason I like it so much - it makes me happy 'cause I love sweets. :D

Nothing is edible, so that helps. If someone finds me nibbling on the decorations, it's time to retire. <!--giggle-->

my theme this year is Travel: An Education Takes You Places (5th grade)--we start off with a research project on famous landmarks--the first week of school!

previous themes have been:
games (that was a fun one to decorate!)
sports (teamwork)
mystery
pirates
Hollywood (had this theme twice)
beach/luau
super heroes
space

i think i'm going to keep my theme the same next year (to save money, time, and energy). i've had this theme once before, several years ago.

i usually like to change my theme each year because it's fun and gets me back into the spirit of wanting to go to school. meh....

A travel theme sounds amazing. I think your kids will love it. A beach theme sounds fun since that's where I'd rather be right now. I think I'll do it. ha!

I love fun themes. Sadly, I don't put a lot of money into decor for my classroom. I teach emotional support and although I try to keep me room attractive and organized, spending a lot of money is just not smart because at some point, someone will have a really bad day and tear it up. This year, we're doing blues/greens with maybe some yellow and a few ocean-like things (my only self-contained student requested it).
