Just getting started
Just getting started. I've been looking for ideas like those I've read about here for a while. I didn't know there was a name for it.

What do you recommend for a starting resource book? I would like to get started ASAP.

Lots to read
Hi Happykids,

Welcome! There is so much to read in this room. I bet if you search the posts you'll come up with some great ideas.

To start, you should definitely go to the RC website and create a free account. You can sign up fore the newsletter and the Responsive blog. Both are terrific resources.

Additionally, there is a bookstore on the site. You can get information about what resources you should have based on your experience using the Responsive Classroom Approach.

Personally, I suggest The Morning Meeting Book, The First Six Weeks, Yardsticks and Teaching Children to Care. These are my go-to books and the foundation of the Approach. There are so many other specific books that you'll want to buy, but stick to those 3 for now and as you gain comfort and expertise with the practices you'll identify areas you'd like to improve and you'll make book purchases based on your refelctions and goal setting.

Best of luck!

I suggest
Teaching Children to Care and Rules in School. Both are wonderful! Rules in school is a quick read but very informative about setting things up in the beginning of the year.
