Writing approaches with Kindergarten
In regards to writing, does anyone have a special approach to teaching writing to Kindergarteners or any student in the emergent stage?
Right now my students are writing sentences and some include details. They all draw pictures to accompany them! Ive done the modeling strategies and I have done conferencing with them on a daily basis. But I want to push them to go farther so I'm looking for different ways to approach it so that it is fun for them yet they are all making gains to be better prepared for first grade. |
They could write and illustrate
their own little books, and read them to a preschool class or have a parent presentation.

Me again
I haven't taught really little kids for a number of years, but there is a book by a woman named Carol Avery, called And With a Light Touch. It talks about writer's workshop in first grade--parts would probably work for K and emergent. The thing I liked about this book was it viewed and treated very young children as actual writers. Might be worth looking at.

Thank you!
