Grade 1 & 2 First Nations Unit?

Hi,

I'm a teacher back in the game after many years absence. I lost all of my materials in that time and am starting from scratch. Also at a new school. Does anyone have any suggestions for teaching about First Nations communities? I'm supposed to have the kids compare at least two First Nations communities but can't seem to find much in the way of resources. I'd really appreciate any help with this.
Thanks,
S<!--owl_pinkscarf-->

Does your Board have a Natives Studies curriculum coordinator?
I retired a couple of years ago but I am pretty sure a position has been created since. Thought it was required of all Boards in the Province.

Maybe some of these resources will be helpful.
Also check with your teacher-librarian or library tech.
A few years ago I had quite a bit of money to spend on materials for the library to support this area of the curriculum. If my memory is correct this was Ministry money so other schools should have also received money for resources.

Thank you!

Thanks Peaches Pears!
I appreciate your help.
As I think I mentioned, I've been away on medical for years and have just returned to work part-time at a new school.
It's been overwhelming at times and everyone is really nice but so busy, that sometimes I'm loathe to ask yet another question.
I've since been able to connect with someone to help me but will certainly look at the links you provided as well.
Thanks so much!

Are you in Ontario?
I have tons of professional development books etc that I am in the process of getting rid of --- what do you need?

Sorry, I got so busy I didn't get back to this site to see your kind offer. I'm in BC so it wouldn't of worked out anyway but thank you so much for your offer of help and resources! I'm gradually making headway locally and making contacts again so all is well.

Hope you have a great summer!
Many thanks!
