Gradual release
Anyone doing gradual release lesson plans? Apparently this is the new "catch phrase" instead of reader's workshop. Anyone familiar? HELP!!

Gr
I only know Gradual Release (of Responsibility) in the context of the progression of a lesson. Simplified it would be:
I do it (focus lesson), --teacher support We do it (guided instruction), --teacher support You do it together (collaboration), --guided practice You do it alone (independent). --independent practice/application We have been doing this for years, but maybe there is something I'm missing about your particular GR. I suppose you just have to use this format for your reader's workshop, which is pretty much what every teacher already does. |
I agree with the other poster.....Regie Routman talked about this in her books several years ago and it is simply intro, modeling, sharing the work /scaffolding, then independent work....helping all towards working independently.
