I don't know if you have extra contract days, but I do. After the kids and grade-level teachers leave, I have 3 additional contract days. By then, I will have completed inventory, general cleaning, submitting end of year reports.

So what would you do with three workdays at the end of the school year? Let's build a to-do list!

For me, I like to do inventory and reports. I prefer to keep the library open until students go home. Even if they cannot check out many will use the space, look at books, and I will have them play library games. I also would work on collection development, looking at holes in the collection, ideas for projects, etc. Then I would get crafty and work on making signs, graphics, and other items.

End of year
We only do a full inventory every 5 years. We do end of year missing inventory reports each year along with stats from every month for usage, etc. I clean up, and my last day so the last day for teachers. I start when the elementary teachers start in August. Middle and high school librarians start earlier and have extra days at the end of the year.
