Jan Richardson's Literacy Footprints vs. Fountas and Pinnell

My principal is hoping to buy leveled books with lesson plans for our school. The Fountas and Pinnell kits seem to be very good but right now are out of our price range. We might be able to swing Jan Richardson's version, Literacy Footprints, but I'm hesitant because I don't know anyone who has actually used it in the classroom. Does anyone use Literacy Footprints? If so, what are the positives/negatives that you have found?

They'd be worth some investigation. One of them (and I can't for the life of me pull out which one) has a teacher copy of the little leveled book that has directions for picture walks, pulling out items to focus on during reading and some comprehension follow-up. A very nice support and good books as well.
