Halloween

At our school, upper grades do not get to participate in Halloween dress up. The last few years, we have had some Pioneer activities for our kids, which worked out well. However, that will not be the case this year.....I don't want my kids to not get to have something fun on this Halloween day at school, so I'd like to incorporate something into my reading for them. Suggestions???? Please! Thanks!! <!--falloakleaves--><!--acorn--><!--candycorn--><!--pumpkin--><!--paper_owl--><!--frankenstein-->

Halloween

There are lots of fun Halloween books. Maybe pick a book with a story line where the format could be copied and have kids then write their own story in that format?

My 4th graders enjoyed The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. I found a pdf that is a Reader's Theater for it. http://www.timelessteacherstuff.com/...tleOldLady.pdf

You could focus on sound effects or sequencing. And have kids write a story with the same idea--pick a different setting

The ADJ ADJ NOUN who wasn't afraid of anything....

There are a ton of ideas out there for this book

I once worked at a school that didn't do Halloween, but did a vocabulary parade. They found a word and costumed like the word. Could be a phrase (or an idiom) and kids find a way to explain the word through their "costume."

I am not explaining well. First cuppa.

Crazy Hat Day

We sometimes do crazy hat day instead of regular Halloween. The students make a hat that is scariest, silliest, or most creative.
