Thinking Chair/Area
I am having a thinking chair/time out desk this year and wonder if anyone else uses this as a consequence and if so, do you label it anything? I was planning on just putting a big light bulb on the desk to represent "thinking". Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!

Rest Stop
Yes, we have something called a “rest stop” for those who need a moment to get back on track. I usually send them to it with some kind of timer that they can watch. Some like just a sand one, others like one which you turn over and it has the colored oil or goo that slides down. Not really a timer, but they calm down watching it and it takes about 3 minutes to finish. Usually those who are anxious about something or need a break, do come back calmer. :)

Thank you. I like the name of your area! I don't want them to stay there forever, but just to rest and figure themselves out :)

We just called it the thinking chair
or thinking corner. I had a poster with some suggestions about what the child should be thinking about while there. Sometimes they were asked to think about something and could return on their own when they were calm. Other times they would stay there until I checked in with them. I would ask them to tells what went wrong, what happened before things went wrong, how they could change to make sure it didn't go wrong again. It wasn't a punishment it was a way to develop social skills.

Cool down corner
We have had a cool down corner in my classroom. Usually students could ask to go there and occasionally I asked students to go there.

I love the 'rest stop' one! And the 'cool down corner' too.
