iready minutes

My students have to get 45 min. of reading and 45 min. of math weekly. How do you fit it in? We are one to one with chromebooks and it is a center but they don't go to that center daily. It's probably twice a week, but I pull kids from their center for reading groups so they sometimes miss their computer time. It feels like we have a short school day (7:45-2 but really dismissal starts prior to that).

The short answer - mine don't. We don't do iready but are supposed to have Lexia and Dreambox minutes each week. I'm not a big fan of screens in my classroom, so it is not a priority for me. Until someone calls me out on it I'm just going to keep on keeping on!

We're supposed to get 30-40 minutes of just reading and we're not able to get that. My students don't like iready and I dislike that the frequent assessments don't count towards their time.

I was having them get on during independent learning but many didn't meet their minutes due to getting pulled for small group instruction. Now I'm going to try doing it during our computer lab time once a week but it takes longer to log in there (no web cams) so that will eat into their time.

I'll probably add it in to morning work but they'll only get it once a week since we're not 1 to 1.

I squeeze it in, but still don't get that much.

My kids do like it, but mostly because I give out brag tags. One brag tag is for 25 minutes or more on a week. (Can't get to 45)

Some then do it at home, but I don't encourage that!
