Sitton Spelling

Looking for anyone who uses this spelling program for advice on how to implement it to its fullest potential...I am sure I am not using it they way it should or could be used!

spelling program

We used this program about 8 years ago in my district. Not sure what has changed since then but it was a not a good program for our kids. As a teacher, we had to do so much supplementing to make the spelling program worthwhile and see any improvement in our kids' spelling. We switched to a workbook program after that with much more success. Good luck.

Sitton Spelling

I have been using this program for about 2 years. Since I am the only one at my school using the program, I haven't really used the program like I should. I do like that the words are repeated, because my lower students need that repetition. For my higher students, the school uses a program called Word Build.

Spelling Program

We use Sitton Spelling at our school and have been using it for the last four or five years. We use the workbook that goes along with the program. It really gives the program more "meat"! It covers a lot of skills such as prefixes, suffixes, consonant and vowel sounds, synonyms, homonyms, etc. I give the pretest on Monday, then assign the exercises that are on the first page of the TE (I can't remember what they are called!). I make a copy of them, white out the answers and then the kids do the work on looseleaf paper and turn them in on Thurs. I have them do this for homework during the week. Then on Tues. and Wed. they do the workbook pages and Fri. we take the post test. Hope this helps a bit!
