updating my resume

I am updating my current resume right now. I am a second year teacher (1st grade) who is possibly looking for a new district and school. I'm not really sure what to put for these two years (college was so much easier to write for). Would anyone mind sharing the kinds or things they have on the resume for their actual teaching years. Thanks :)

Resume

How about:
post grad work you've completed
professional development activities
committees, chaired
committees, member of
workshops attended
workshops you gave
extra assignments/duties given by principal (and successfully completed)
extra curricular activities responsible for
awards and recognition related to teaching
your most memorable teaching experience
you most forgettable teaching experience
what you have to offer their school (school system)
what you are looking for in your next assignment
anything that will single you out and make you a unique applicant

You want to keep it short but thorough. Good luck.

Hi 1stgradenew! I think you should be specific about your philsophies (staying away from too many buzz words)

So....

Such and Such Elementary School, 1st grade 2006-2008

Language Arts: Taught reading through a balanced literacy framework in which children read for sustained amounts of time on their instructional level. Differentiated through daily individual, partner, and small group conferences that targeted... etc etc...

Math: Taught math with a focus on problem solving and deep conceptual understandings of topics. etc...

JMO- but I think that when people skim over your resume they should see some things that give them an insight into how you taught day to day.

Good luck... are you looking at a project school??? I will be SO jealous.

Yes

Yes, Bookmuncher it is a project school!! It's spring break this week for me but not this district, so I'm on my way to talk to the principals this week! I hope it goes well :)

I really like what you said about teaching reading. Since I know that this school focuses so strongly on RW and WW, do you think it would be ok to put those buzz words in... or no?

What others types of things could I say about RW?

Thanks for your help!! I will keep you updated:D

I think since a project school (GREEN WITH ENVY!!!), you could use the buzz words, but at the same time- "show not tell" ;) what reader's workshop is to you. If I were them, I'd be worried about people who present as workshop people without backing it up. Workshop could be centers or anything else.

You might describe writing in the same breath as you do reading, to show parallellism-- "Taught reading and writing through..." Maybe also mention some stuff about authentic literature, diversity, etc...
