informing parents?

Do any of you send a letter home at the beginning of the year stating Common Core expectations for first grade, such as counting forward to 120 starting at any number, etc. Just wondering if it would be helpful for the parents to know what's expected of the firsties by the end of the year.

I would definitely send parents a letter home with an overview of what's expected of students at the beginning of the year. Then, since you should be in pretty constant contact with them anyway, I'd send home weekly letters to break the standards down to what they will be learning that week or the following week. Better to keep those who want the information in the loop and those who don't can ignore it or throw it away themselves...
