They have forgotten . . .

My 8th graders have forgotten how school works.

Five days of testing. Eight days after that.

We can make it. They’re great kids, but they are DONE.

Funny how they all do this! I keep reminding my 2nd graders that we have been in school for 165 days and they should know better!!! I think it's going in one ear and out the other! LOL

Done!!

My 4th graders are done too. We still have a geometry test next week. They are not listening and fooling around. It is going to be a mess of a test. I am so done too!

They have forgotten

And this is why I always advocated for a modified calendar. More breaks throughout the year.

I’m not sure a modified calendar will cure the end of the year ‘done’. There will still be the end of grade I’m so over itness (by both students and teachers).

Mine are done and we still go until June 11th and they start state testing next week. It's not a good time (nor is it ever).
We have significant numbers of kids absent or leaving early/coming late (often those who can least afford to be out). I can't teach kids who aren't at school.
And then they're insane when they're here. My admin wants me to have kids do a practice test. Okay, whatever, won't really hurt. We did 8 problems together yesterday, then I had them work with a partner for an hour, and then again for another 45 minutes. I told them they had to finish it today (we have another hour or so left for reading). One boy was like oh 30 questions in an hour? (There are only 40 questions). Apparently in 1 hour and 45 minutes he'd managed to answer 2 questions. Grrr..
