For those in CA
How long did it take to receive your unemployment check once you received the email that the check/ debit card was issued? Thanks!

CC96 04-23-2020 05:07 PM

I think
It was about a week and a half later.

Tapdancesub 04-23-2020 05:19 PM

Thank you, itís only been about a week.

I recommend
Give it up to two and a half weeks. I applied on March 18th along with 80,000 other people just that day. I had to call a few things to their attention, but they finally caught everything up last week. The system is clearly overwhelmed 😢

It took 3 weeks from the day I registered until I received the card in the mail. In the meantime I had no idea what was happening. I received an email the day after I registered, saying I had registered, and another 2 weeks after saying an account had been created. One more week until I received the card. I was impressed overall with the speed of it but confused with the application and not knowing what was happening.

Thanks all! I was just surprised I even qualified for anything. First time in my 40+ years of working I ever applied. I had already had 22 days booked from when school ended mid-March til the end of the school year. I figured it was worth a shot.

California subs
Hello everyone. I just wanted to say that I do not agree with all of that California bashing that I have been hearing and seeing about in recent years especially in the state that I unfortunately reside in currently, but I was wondering if California substitutes know how Fortunate the AR when compared to other States that don't value education at all. In Texas, some substitutes get less than $50 A-day. All substitutes receive absolutely no benefits, absolutely no Union protection, absolutely no protections at all, and it states specifically when you were hired you can be fired at will at any time, for any reason as this is an at will state.

Texas Substitutes
In my district Ive taught in as a substitute for over 30 years plus, we, a small group in the early 2000, worked to form a union. Our union is with the CWA. It was a long process, with many meetings. It resulted in a pay raise $12.00. I would say that took 3 years working to get our district to give use that raise. The raise we asked for, was after having no pay raise in in 15 years. I spoke on behalf of our group at the school board meeting. I basicaly told them that we mad as much as kids and In N Out Burger. Those kids were serving burgers, and they had benefits. It finally came to the point where we were going to strike. That worked in our favor . In the last 3 years we have gotten a raise that now is double what that first raise was. It is a battle, but there are talented people who can help. It has not been a perfect system, but having a union behind you with any problems that occur, can help alot. I know several people who have had to call them in for situations they were accused of. I really fell that Texas does not deserve their substitutes.

Edd ca
I got my debit card not long after filing and being approved (confirmed). Registered my card on the BofA site. Immediately transferred the money from BofA EDD account (no fee) to my bank account.

I was confused on second check which they informed me on UI was sent on 5/1/20. Kept watching the mail for another card but, Doh, they just deposit the next 2-weeks check to my BofA EDD account automatically. Found out today (5/12) that the money were there. They don't tell you that on their UI site which is difficult to understand sometimes. Transferred that to my bank account.

The $600 per week FAC lasts through July (if my state or the Fed don't go bankrupt in the meantime). Calif is close because our governor is an idiot and it seems like he wants the state to go down the tubes so Democrats win election. Tesla is threatening to leave Calif because Newsom won't allow businesses to start back up. It appears all the Dem governors want the same thing for their states. Deficit of $58B right now. Oh, well.
