Adaptive Curriculum/life skills

Does anyone here teach this? I was moved to this position for the upcoming year. I've never taught it so I'm not sure what to expect or how to approach it. My experience was in resource and inclusion. Thanks.

How do you set up your class schedule?

Can you tell us a bit more about your class? What age group? Will you have kids with severe cognitive delays, or more moderate?

I've been teaching kids with severe delays for about 20 years now. I've also worked with kids with moderate delays. The type of cash you have and the age group will make a big difference and how you set up your day and exactly what you do. If you don't know yet, contact the school and ask if you can look at the IEPs. Find out what still she will be addressing, what medical or behavioral needs you might have, what therapies you will be working with, and if you will be doing any vocational or community training. That will give you a place to start.

This would be middle school students, they would be severe and or profound delays. I was at the school last year in a different sped role so I know some of the students. Some have adaptive PE, daily living skills, etc., I will have them all day except for lunch and PE and other elective type classes.
