23 year old BB contestant saying she was a kindergarten teacher instead of a nurse

Anyone else see the comment the BB contestant made about "faking to be a kindergarten teacher"- Know it was just a sound bite but she said I want the other contestants to think I am naive and play with kids all day instead of working on 3 degrees. Sometimes I do "shake my head" when I think of how the "outside world" sees the job especially primary teachers do each day.

imafive 07-13-2012 04:50 AM

Pissed me off! I'm writing CBS and telling them they lost a viewer last night.

funteacher7 07-13-2012 04:51 AM

I was going to post about this! I do not teach K but know how hard K teachers work and all that is expected in that grade. Good grief people are ignorant!

funteacher7 07-13-2012 04:52 AM

And many have more than one degree!

smannes 07-13-2012 04:53 AM

That comment irritated me also! I don't understand why contestants lie about their occupation (and why do they always pretend to be teachers??). It's just going to come back and bite them in the butt in the end.

OK4NOW 07-13-2012 04:57 AM

I know not all people view kindergarten or primary teachers that way....but her comment did make me shake my head.

new1stteacher 07-13-2012 04:58 AM

BB liar

Yes that pissed me off too. " I want them to think I play with little kids all day." Oh really? Have you seen our standards!?

WhooGirl 07-13-2012 05:02 AM

This is what I wrote on their BB's FB page

"Danielle insulted teachers last night. To think we play all day, are naive, and don't hold multiple degrees is insulting. You lost a viewer last night. She took all the enjoyment out of the show for me."

We all ought to complain. PT POWER!

platypus 07-13-2012 05:04 AM

I literally just posted...

the same thing. But all the kindergarten teachers should realize that she obviously wouldn't last a week in the classroom

WhooGirl 07-13-2012 05:08 AM

I don't teach kindergarten, but I could if forced to! It's hard work, I see my K friends faces at the end of the day!

OK4NOW 07-13-2012 05:09 AM

I was kind of wondering if Danielle would get sent home last night over Jodi. (just my opinion) I sometimes think now people (married or not) want to keep the "eye candy" around. Where else can you keep "eye candy" around but in the Big Brother house. (Hey they're human) I do wonder if the kindergarten teacher act will come up anymore in Danielle's game play. (LOL)

Not a slam against Jodi. ( I felt bad for her-last picked 1st evicted-that would probably be me if I ever went into the Big Brother house LOL)

kzoteacher 07-13-2012 05:09 AM

I don't know

I am not a kindergarten teacher;I teach third, but I know the hard work it takes to be a teacher in any grade. I didn't like what she said. It was insulting, and I bet there is a teacher in her family that will tell her that when she gets out of the house. I guess, I feel you can't get mad at CBS for showing it. It is "reality" tv after all. She said it, she will always be on record as saying it, and it will come back to bite her someday. I think that will be payment enough. Just my opinion.

tchrrx 07-13-2012 05:15 AM

Sounds like it's time for a new show:

The "Lock Danielle in a House with a Bunch of Kindergarteners and Make Her Teach the Standards Show."

Wouldn't that be fun to watch! :p

Tigger97 07-13-2012 05:28 AM

I am a kindergarten teacher, and when I heard that comment I looked at my husband and said, "Really? I'm naive and play all day?" He said that by looking at her you could tell she's dumb as a rock and had no idea what teachers do all day. And by the way, I have 3 degrees...

WhooGirl 07-13-2012 05:32 AM

tchrrx

Post that on the BB FB wall or email it! I would watch that!

hippyteacher 07-13-2012 05:38 AM

I agree with the pp that her comment shows just how dumb she really is!!!

TeachNut 07-13-2012 05:44 AM

I'm not a kinder teacher, but it irritated me to all get out! My wife and son both looked over at me and started laughing at my reaction!

But, as another poster stated, I don't see me not watching the show. It's not like CBS told her to say this. The show isn't 100% scripted and CBS has no control over what their players say. They had to show the comment as it is part of her game play. I am not annoyed with CBS, I am irritated with the degree holding nurse and all her ignorance on what it takes to be a teacher!

Jade 07-13-2012 06:05 AM

The Kindergarten teacher deception didn't work in last season's Amazing Race, so we'll see how long it works here. And...isn't her mentor Dan and isn't he a teacher? If they do any kind of "shop talk" she'll be found out easily.

I've watched BB since day one and the narcissistic personality that most of the players come in with still amazes me. The entitled attitude that they can lie and backstab and do anything they like, but how dare anyone else do the same thing! My favorite players have been those who were clear that this was a game and not a popularity contest. Probably why Rachel was always so annoying to me. Always liked Dan, though. Should be an interesting summer!

missbluejay 07-13-2012 06:06 AM

UGH! It was definitely frustrating and annoying that she said that! I don't know why people think a teacher's job is so easy and anyone off the street could fill in with no problems at all. It takes a very special type of teacher to teach K (not me! that's for sure), and that BB contestant wouldn't last an hour!

nilvero 07-13-2012 07:08 AM

Yes!

It was annoying. I know how hard all teachers work, but I have a lot of respect for K teachers. It's just dumb that people out there think that.

EllaKate 07-13-2012 07:15 AM

Ugh...irritated me also. She's a nurse for heaven's sake....what's wrong with admitting that????

And yes, Dan is a teacher so he will be on to her game if they talk "shop."

I did feel bad for Jodi...they showed her doing a spin class and such to get in shape for BB....poor thing....

OK4NOW 07-13-2012 07:31 AM

Thinking about poor Jodi on finale night....they will probably joke-were you ever even here.

Maybe they will let her come back next season.

As the "hey remember me-I was last picked and 1st evicted on Season 14 of Big Brother" and didn't even get to spend one night in the house.

Well this year I get a key were they at least can't evict until the 4th show.

Kind of like the couple's twist one year. (I think) There have been so many twists. (LOL)

hoppalong 07-13-2012 07:41 AM

I couldn't believe she said that either...just another ignorant person who apparently thinks teaching kindergartners=playing with them.

sonjateacher 07-13-2012 07:57 AM

K jab

Wow, I don't watch the show, but I thought that most people realized how hard a job Kindergarten teacheres have! Goes to show that there are a lot of ignorant people out there!

read2day 07-13-2012 08:36 AM

In my opinion, kindergarten teachers should be paid the highest salary because they work the hardest and have the VERY important job of getting their students off to a good start.

daniellehater 07-13-2012 08:38 AM

Big brother danielle comment

I just saw it and I am so angry that people really think Kindergarten Teachers just "play" with children. I am a Kindergarten teacher and am also currently obtaining my Master's Degree. Kindergarten teachers are one of the hardest working teachers, adapting the children to Kindergarten is a very difficult job, as well as preparing the appropriate lesson plans. I bet she couldn't last a day in our shoes.
I HOPE SHE GOES HOME SOON.

Shell 07-13-2012 12:49 PM

It made me sad and grouchy when I heard her say it. Let's see how long she lasts in a room of 25 August kinders.

NETeacher 07-13-2012 03:08 PM

I don't understand??

Why do many people think so little of us teachers? I was SO insulted by her comment last night. What, you can't have more than one degree to teach? I'm not sure what the certification requirement is in each of the states, but here in CT you have to hold a Masters degree within in certain amount of time.

klarabelle 07-13-2012 06:00 PM

As soon as she said it, I wondered what K teacher plays all day? They took away play time a long time ago. It helps explain why kids can't get along, they never were socialized.

Anyway, I guess all she really does is give out drinks and fluffs pillowsLOL NOT!

thekchick 07-13-2012 07:18 PM

she will be destroyed

I had the same reaction. Its a show, I'm not mad at CBS but I can't wait to see Danielle get eaten up by the brains of the house.
