Googl classroom help - student loses attachments
I have one student that always says that she doesn't have the assignment (Google Doc or Slides) that I attach. (Everyone else does, so I know that I have it checked to make a copy for every student). When I do get work turned in, it's never as the original Google Doc or Slide, but a PDF version.

Any idea what she is doing to cause this? She doesn't seem to realize what's happening, and I don't know what to tell her.

I’m going to guess she’s not looking in the classwork tab, she’s looking someplace else. Send a message just to her (when you go to stream to send a message, just click on her name rather than all students) and remind her to click on classwork, rather than stream.

I have a student who has messaged me that she accidentally deleted the assignment a few times. I’m not sure how she’s doing this, but I googled what to do and there’s no way to recover the document. It may still be in her drive, but she wouldn’t have any idea how to search for it so I just reposted the assignment just to her and that seemed to work best.

Students can delete the assignment if they're not careful, and there are times when a student has not gotten an attachment everyone else has gotten. If it's happening consistently, I'm guessing she deletes it when she tries to open it. (My students use iPads, and if they click the x on the attachment, it's gone. Is it the same on a laptop?)

When my students turn in a document, it's normally converted to PDF. Google Classroom saves their work this way and it is uneditable. Google Slides turn in as slides for my students, so I'm not sure on that one.

Google Slides
I have been posting my assignments as Google Slides. When students turn them in, there are usually two versions, a Google Slides (which is blank) and a PDF. Now I know to open the PDF only because for some reason, that is the one that has been edited by the students. Don't know why it converts it to PDF. My student all took home iPads (we normally use laptops in the classroom) so it's been a real struggle. It took me a while to realize that the way I see or do work on my laptop is not the same way my students see or work on assignments on the iPads.
