New teacher. Need clear coat for paper mache
I am new to teaching art and I don't have an art background. My students are making paper mache, and painting with tempera. I need a clear coat that won't smear the tempera. I don't know what to use. Anything water based that brushes on will smear the tempera, so I figured I need clear spray paint. ( Doing this outdoors, away from kids)

What type of clear spray should I buy? There's a really cheap option, but worried that it won't be good. It's like a generic brand and only a $ 1.37 a can

Krylon is what "professional" artists use. It is a fixative used on most art like pastels and things that are dusty and/or chalky.

Hair spray-- if you want to cheap out, works too. Aqua Net or something like that-- probably goes at dollar store or big lots for about 1 dollar per can.
