Departmentalizing
So, our 1st grade team will be departmentalizing next year. I'm super excited! There are so many demands put on us that I feel that it will help being able to focus on just math instead of math and reading. WIth that being said, do any of you do the same? Can you share how you make it work? I want it to run as smoothly as possible. Please share what you feel works in this kind of teaching. TIA

I've been departmentalized in primary and self-contained. Honestly, I liked being self-contained better. The pressures that I thought would be relived by being departmentalized were just eaten up by having so many students.
I'm moving back to departmentalized, but I'm moving up. Let's see how this goes. |
Interesting
I think with some of the recs I’ve seen for opening up schools it is recommended in CA that there be little or no movement of students into different spaces and with different adults. Of course, everything is still being thrown around and nothing is definitive. I’ll see if I can find the state sups comments on what is needed to open physical places safely. The bottom line is that they need more money.
I hope it works out for you and your team. |
