Poetry Activities??

I was wondering if anyone had "standard" poetry activities (list) to share. For example: Circle the nouns, find the rhyming words, circle the punctuation marks etc... If so, please share :) Thanks

Figures of speech

Highlight the similes, metaphors, personifcation and alliteration. Once they understand these figures of speech and can identify them easily then they can begin to write them with some success.

Also a rhythm is created in most poems. The poet must count syllables and match the lines up with the same number of syllables or the poem will lose its musical quality and sound awkward. So counting syllables is a good activity. Then when they can do that successfully they can write a haiku where they have to count syllables as well.
