HELP! to introduce holocaust with a movie
hai all..
help me out with LINKS of some movies to introduce holocaust for 4th to 6th graders.. would be awesome if the movie is around 25 mins! thanks! |
Check out Paper Clips
It's not the most exciting video, but it talks about a school that started using paperclips to represent the 6 millions Jews and other minorities that were murdered during the Holocaust. I encourage you to check it out- at least for yourself. You should be able to find information on google.

You Could Use "Schindler's List"
Not the entire movie for obvious reasons, but you could pick scenes from it. There is one section of the movie that shows the round up of the occupants form the ghetto. It is very graphic and very powerful, but it may be too much for such young kids. I use it for 10th graders and it really hits home.

Boy with Striped Pajamas?
I've read the book but haven't watched the movie. Maybe this is the way to go? Or Diary of Anne Frank movie?

It's too late to get a copy if you need it right now, but tolerance.org has a great resource that our 5th grade teacher uses when he teaches Number the Stars. I don't know if it is okay to post links... it is called, "One Survivor Remembers."
ETA: It is free. :) |
Boy in striper pajamas is probably most appropriate, but still have intense scenes. The end is particularly intense.
