Hot Chocolate

I am planning on making Hot Chocolate friday for our Polar Express Day. I was thinking of trying this recipe from
http://honeyandfitz.blogspot.com/

Polar Express Hot Chocolate (aka the BEST hot chocolate you've ever tasted) Recipe:

--1.5 cups of heavy cream
--1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
--2 cups of bittersweet chocolate chips
--6 cups of milk
--1 tsp vanilla extract

In a large pot over low heat, combine all of the above ingredients. Stir regularly for 30-40 minutes until chocolate is fully melted and incorporated with other ingredients.

I am wondering if it will be too rich for the kids. I want to try it out Sunday, but what would I do with the leftovers? Can I freeze it? Stick it in the fridge and reheat it on Friday?

That sounds really rich and really yummy!! Forget the kids, give it to the teachers and let the kids have some instant cocoa packets :p

Hershey's cocoa container

I think some of the best cocoa is from the recipe on the side of the Hershey's cocoa container. It is simply cocoa, sugar, milk, vanilla and a dash of salt. It is very creamy and rich. When I make it by the cupful, I sometimes cut the cocoa and sugar measurements in 1/2 because it is so rich you really don't need that much.

hot chocolate!

my favorite way to make hot chocolate in the classroom is to pour chocolate milk into the crockpot, heat and serve with marshmallows...easy to make, easy to serve and the kids love it! Keep it simple!!

Chocolate milk vs hot cocoa

I think it would be similar, but haven't tried it. Is it just as good? With everything that goes on the last day before break, I'd love to try this.

I've done the hot chocolate milk for the past 8 years...works well, kids love it and it is as easy as pouring the chocolate milk into the crock pot...

Thanks

I think I will try the chocolate milk. I am afraid this will be too rich for them.

Maybe I will make it on Wednesday for the teachers, when I hand out their cookies.
