Jobs in Canada

What is going on in your province? Are there jobs? Is it hard to get work? Let's discuss!

There are very few jobs where I am, and it is very difficult to find work. To work as an LTO you need to be on a special supply list, so if you are just starting out there is little chance of landing an LTO job. I work with teachers who worked as supplies for 10+ years before getting permanent part-time. I am glad I am not beginning now.

NS is similar, I would say. Term jobs out there are open to any one, but subs in that school a lot usually land those, but as we saw recently, not always. Our long term subs have a status tier system now which they can keep as long as they continue to do terms. This helps those with a one year term move into a permanent position the next year. This has happened to a number of our subs. French language skills, of course, open up more opportunities and many of those are early hires before they leave university.
