Teaching Job

Hello! I am currently enrolled in a elementary education teaching program. I am in my last class. After completing this class. I just have my student teaching to complete with my seminar course that goes along with my student teaching. Is it possible that I could still apply for a teaching job even though I have completed my program?

I look forward to hearing your answers. :-)

In the district where I work, teachers who finish student teaching in the fall/winter typically sub to finish the year (benefit: getting some experience in multiple schools gives you a chance to see which schools you’d enjoy working in and let’s people get to know you so you are familiar when you apply). Some end up taking long term sub jobs for the second part of the year.
Last year we had a teacher move out of state mid-year. We had a great student teacher who finished STing in November. She was hired to finish out the school year in the class where the teacher left.

It depends

It depends on your state requirements. I'm in CA, and we have what's called an Intern Credential, which you can get if you are enrolled in a program through a university. I don't know about other states.

We were not allowed to substitute while we were student teaching, although sometimes they bent the rules a bit.

Check w/ your State Dept of Ed

In my state, you would not be able to teach w/out completion and certification. Good luck!<!--apple-->
