5th grade ELA teachers
My school is looking into adopting a new 5th-grade reading series/program...after MANY years. The only current criteria are that it must contain a guided reading component. What are you using that you would recommend.

If you want no tech-
We're using Wonders. The selections and scaffolding of skills are good, but the electronic components are frustrating in the extreme.

There are leveled readers for guided reading.

I agree...
The data dashboard is suppose to be great, but frustrating to use.

We adopted Wonders. It is trash. I teach the reading component and my co-teacher teaches the grammar and writing. We have basically ditched all of the "Wonders" materials and supplemented. The only thing we use are the spelling lists and the actual stories. The online component is very difficult to use. There is nothing for the kids to get online to use and basically trying to find the teacher materials is a waste of time. Very disappointed!!!

I would NOT recommend this program at all!

My district adopted Wonders this last year. I absolutely love it. Yes, there is A LOT there and I know I still do not use it to its full capacity after a full year. I am teaching only ELA next year and have been really digging into the online component to dissect the program. I have learned that you need to customize your online dashboard so that only the lessons you need will pop up for your daily presentation. Also, while I am still learning, you can assign lessons/assessments to students dashboards. This was great for us this year, as students took a weekly selection text on their chrome books.
