Alphabet Banners

I am new to teaching and I haven't seen many upper grade classrooms. Should I have the cursive handwriting banner above my white board in 6th grade or are they too old for that?

I don't think that they need it. But if you have one and want to hang it ,it would look nice.

Sadly...

I don't have one either. Our system doesn't push cursive writing at all b/c they say that as long as their handwriting is legible on the state tests, it doesn't matter what style they write in! Isn't that terrible!

I was thinking of putting one up this year and have copies of handwriting pages for those students who really want to write in cursive and don't know how.

thanks

Thank you for the input.

Handwriting banner

My school doesn't push cursive writing either--and I'm really sad about it--nice cursive writing is becoming a lost art. I would put the banner up if you have it. My goal is for kids to realize that writing goes so much faster when they do it in cursive.

cursive writing

In my school our students learn cursive before they learn print. They were lost the first day when I asked them to fill out a questionnaire in cursive! I have one in my room, but it's not necessary.

nah...

By the time they are in 6th grade, they should be using their best writing. I don't hang an alpha chart.
