In Need of your Creativity

I rescued this wooden box from my sisterís giveaways because I thought it was cute and different. I was thinking of using it as a sort of planter (with a fully potted plant placed inside) but Iím not 100% sold on that idea, though I canít quite say why.

Does anyone else have any creative ideas of what I could do with this box? (The notepad next to it is to give you a sense of its size.). Thank you in advance!

Slatted box

Itís adorable. You could put an airy, trailing tripe of plant. Use a clear glass container. Or fill it with pine cones or rocks.

Beautiful Box!

I would save that box from a pile of give away items too. Love it!

I love the idea of using it for a plant holder. Like the previous poster said I would put the plant in a clear glass container before placing in the box as it will be clear and keep the eye focused on the wood and greenery rather than a decorative or terra-cotta pot.

I would probably embellish the box by carefully staining the slats three different shades with wood stain. I would choose a very dark one and then a red one to use with the more neutral shade that has already been used on the box. I would cover the other slats with paint tape as I stained with each color in case of drips.

Then I might embellish with some upholstery nails as well to give it a richer texture.

Finally, I would seek out a couple of additional unique boxes to add to the display. Both would be smaller than this one but not the same size for variety. Since this one looks so new I might consider an older mitered box and then maybe one that includes some natural stone like turquoise or brass for color.

Enjoy your beautiful box whatever you decide to do.

I love it. What about a handful of succulents?

Another idea

What about filling with bleached and unbleached pine cones? When you turn the cones upside down they look a great deal like flowers. :D Could be really pretty.

Thank you

Thank you (and merci beaucoup), everyone, for all your suggestions! It hadnít occurred to me to do a trailing kind of plant that I could train to go through the slats, so I like that idea. And then Iíll fill in the area around its pot with natural things. My mom has a bunch of small polished rocks that she hadnít figured out what to do with and said she would be happy to give to me, and maybe some moss and small pine cones if thereís room.

Sounds really pretty

When you are done creating the final product please share a photo. I can't wait to see how it looks.
