3,4,5 Reading - Returning to classroom

Hi Everyone!
So, I took a 3 year break to be at home, two years before that I was in the library. Before that I taught second grade self contained. I used Daily 5 in the classroom along with guided reading, mentor texts and anchor charts....Now Iím starting a new position as 3,4,5 grade Reading... Iíve done literature circles (book clubs as well)....Anything else thatís a must or proven effective?? New advancements/concepts/programs...Iím a quick learner and ready to read up brush up this summer!

Welcome!

You've had a lot of past experience, so that will help. I might simply suggest to get to know the standards. Teaching 3 grade levels will be interesting :)

I would agree with reviewing standards. I found this book helpful (Common Core Companion) But to be fair....I just made copies of the few pages I wanted and returned it to the library...so not sure I would recommend purchasing it...but it was helpful!

There have been a lot of studies on the importance of choice and independent reading in reading instruction. If you're not familiar, you might do some research into that...and start building a small classroom library.
