Test for Lexile Levels
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have many parents wanting to know their child's reading grade level. Our school no longer has AR reading and that means the STAR test associated with AR is gone. We are encouraged to use Lexile Levels, but we have no testing to help find their level...just a grade level scale. That doesn't seem to satisfy most parents and I was wondering if there is some free test out there that could help give me their Lexile levels...and help me get some parents off my back. :p

Pricey
I have not found any free tests.
I was frustrated last year because my old school used Scholastic Reading Inventory and this one at the time didn't have anything. We later got iReady-while not the world's greatest program nor determination of a Lexile, it gave you an idea for most kids. |
Universal Screener
Does your school use some kind of universal screener to determine reading levels of students? Lexile is just one leveling system. Use whatever system goes with your reading assessment. We use guided reading levels and don't attempt to convert to lexiles.

ReadTheory.org
ReadTheory.org is a free program that we were just introduced to, and I highly recommend looking into it!

We use Fountas and Pinnell and MAP NWEA testing
