picture books with tricks on characters

Looking for picture books where the characters are playing tricks on each other. We will be writing stories where their characters play a trick or joke on another character. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

trickster tales

My second grade team is currently immersing students in the genre of trickster tales. Students have really enjoyed the Anansi books by Eric Kimmel, the books by Gerald McDermott, and versions of the Gingerbread Boy/Man. We find the trickster, the one being tricked, what the trick was, and the outcome. We are going to finish by doing a shared/guided writing of a trickster tale.

Good luck with your project. :)

Enemy Pie - story about a boy who says he "dislikes" a kid in the neighborhood. The whole story isn't the characters playing tricks on each other, but the dad tricks the boy into giving his "enemy" a chance by spending time with him to get to know him.

Cute book..I was observed doing a lesson with this book and my princ. loved it.

Love the above suggestions! Another one that just popped in my head is: Arthur's April Fool by Marc Brown.

OR several Robert Munsch books.... such as: Paper Bag Princess (she tricks the dragon to save the day) and Mmm, Cookies (he makes playdoh cookies for his family, then gets tricked in turn when his parents inform the teacher of his tricks).

Oh! and MANY Jan Brett books: Hedgie's Surprise, Trouble with Trolls, Honey...Honey... Lion!, etc

oooonnnneeee more... Fin M'Coul by Tomie dePaola (I always read this for St. Patrick's Day - great trickery involved!)
