Sideways Stories from Wayside School

I'm looking for ideas to go along with the novel, Sideways Stories from Wayside School. Any ideas are appreciated! <!--girl1--><!--schoolhouse-->

How closely aligned? You could have students do a STEM challenge where they try to build the "school" (highest tower wins).

My Favorite Book

Once I had my class add themselves as the 31st story. Each one wrote about him or herself in the third person. We published our collected chapters as a book.

Aaron Shepard's site aaronshep.com/ has a free Readers' Theatre script that aligns quite closely with the original book.

While reading with my kids I always talk about how much I love Mrs. Gorf's character! Then, the morning after we read the apple chapter, I whip out this basket of (fake) apples and leave it on my table without any comment from me. LOL

What supplies did you use for kids to build the school?
