Social Studies in Literacy

Yikes! I need some good chapter books to help integrate sixth grade literacy and social studies. I need to cover the Gates Maps along with our social studies standards. We start with Mesopotamia.

for next year?

I haven't checked this board in a while. (Obviously)

Hilarious book, but I used it to separate fact from fiction: Hubert Invents the Wheel, Claire and Monte Montgomery (Mesopotamia)

The Bronze Bow, Elizabeth George Speare, Roman occupation of Israel at the time of Jesus, good information on the political landscape

The Golden Goblet, Eloise Garvis McGraw, ancient Egypt, packed with fact mixed in the fiction
