Lucy Calkins - Reading
This is my first year back teaching since having taken time off to stay at home with my young children. I've read a little about Lucy Calkins approach to reading and like the little I have read. SOme of her practices I used here and there before I took time off. Questions:
*In any of her books does she give a list of picture books that lend themselves to specific strategies/skills? *Would it be useful for me to start implementing now, 2/3 through the school year? *How difficult is it to implement when you are the only grade level implementing? My concern is I feel I don't have a large enough classroom library for the students to have book boxes/bags. Any help/suggestions/ideas would be great. I'd love to start fully implementing her ideas. |
