Silly me!

I didn't think anybody kept their table set. Only magazines and homes staged for showing.
We keep a tablecloth and candle sticks, no centerpiece.

Last year we used a car broker that a friend recommended and loved the experience. He has years of...

piggyback about medicare

A question for those PTer's that are with AARP/UnitedHealth. I know of many who found that AARP dropped Silver Sneakers for some of the plans for 2019. Many were upset as this is an important part...

There was A LOT

of pressure to DIBELS and do reading records with the class. Easy for the lower grades but challenging
with third graders. I felt like I couldn't fit in some of the curriculum because I was...

Naming things

I've always said that naming products is my dream job! Paint, inventions, nail polish. Coming up with labels like "dirt" and "derelict pumpkin" for colors would be fun and wouldn't interfere with...

I agree. A few years before I retired, they stopped giving the kids milk for those who had run out of money on their accounts. They got a plain peanut butter sandwich and a "juice" that was just...

After water aerobics, DH and I ran errands, grocery shopped and cooked.
We'll watch St. Louis and Washington go at it for the series.

One year

I had a student who had great attendance, but was chronically late. Anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours. It drove me crazy. I taught 3rd and was warned by his previous teachers. He was very low...

I use Weiman, too, when the stove gets really dirty. For everyday wipe ups I go with my homemade spray of half white vinegar and half rubbing alcohol with a dollop of water. Inexpensive, too. I...

loving it

Just last night I turned to DH and told him how much I loved being retired. It wasn't the case at first. While I was super grateful to be out of the classroom and away from all the exhausting...

no power

So glad that Cal P&E is being proactive during the Santa Anas - no doubt it was a tough decision.

Of course teachers will turn it into a lesson/activity similar to turning off TVs and screens on...

easy books

Cynthia Rylant's Henry and Mudge series is great.

Dav Pilky's Ricky Ricotta series, the Dogman series, Captain Underpants and more are big favorites with 3rd graders.
