I agree. They are disengaged and it is showing itself in bad habits and attitudes.

Yes, I agree. We had a vacancy post come out with 4 positions listed in one day. Thatís pretty unusual for certified positions.

I think that not only is burnout a factor, but many teachers cannot...

For us, aides are hourly, but principals consider the teacher their supervisor. So the teacher would direct the aide on what to do on a day like the OP described that applied to a specific situation...
