Agree with so many of these. The Roanoke picture book by Jane Yolen is GREAT - my kids eat it up! They also love The Salem Witch Trials book by the same author - it's another "history mystery" book....

A 45 minute lunch that's half and half recess/lunch - so that recess ends up being about 20 min. Also, a 20 min afternoon recess. So they get 40 min total. At our school, K-3 get three recesses a day...

Time off
Never. My DH sees how hard I work. He's of the view that I deserve the vacation. He's never resented it. We get enough flack from the public about our vacations; I couldn't deal with it at home too.
